Description
The “Gaetano” floor lamp is composed of substantial solid brass sculptural elements, characterized by their considerable weight, strong material presence and expressive form.
Its monumental composition perfectly reflects Luciano Frigerio’s approach to furniture and decorative objects as autonomous sculptural works, combining traditional craftsmanship with an artistic conception of interior design.
Produced as part of the exclusive “Scultura 99” series, the lamp represents one of Frigerio’s most collectible and distinctive creations.
The lamp will be delivered without the lampshade shown in the photographs.
Design & Function
More than a conventional lighting object, the “Gaetano” floor lamp was conceived as a sculptural furnishing element.
Its vertical composition and imposing brass structure create a strong architectural presence, allowing the piece to function both as ambient lighting and as a decorative focal point within an interior.
The limited production, signature and association with the “Scultura 99” collection further reinforce its character as a collectible work of Italian design.
Materials & Aesthetic
The lamp is entirely characterized by solid brass elements, whose substantial thickness and weight contribute to its monumental appearance.
The sculptural treatment of the metal creates a dynamic succession of volumes and surfaces, giving the object a highly distinctive and almost architectural quality.
The natural patina and warm tonal variations of the brass enhance the material richness of the piece while preserving its authentic vintage character.

The series was conceived around the idea of transforming furniture and decorative objects into genuine works of sculpture, with each model produced in strictly limited and numbered editions of a maximum of 99 examples.
Its limited production, sculptural brass construction, signature and documented authentication make this lamp particularly significant for collectors of post-war Italian design and Luciano Frigerio’s work.
Designer & Manufacturer
Luciano Frigerio was born in Desio in 1928 into a family with a long tradition in fine cabinetmaking. During the 1960s, he transformed the family workshop into an internationally oriented company, developing a distinctive approach that combined exceptional craftsmanship, precious materials and a strong artistic vision.
Frigerio maintained close contact with some of the leading figures of Italian architecture and design, including Gio Ponti, Franco Albini, Sergio Asti and Paolo Portoghesi. These encounters contributed to his belief that furniture could transcend conventional serial production and become an individually conceived artistic object.
This philosophy became particularly evident in his sculptural furniture collections. Working with highly skilled craftsmen and technicians, Frigerio developed pieces in solid wood, bronze and other noble materials, often produced in limited, signed and numbered editions.
The “Scultura 99” collection represents one of the clearest expressions of this philosophy: furnishings conceived as collectible sculptures and limited to a maximum of 99 examples for each model.
In 1973, Luciano Frigerio was awarded the title of Commendatore della Repubblica Italiana in recognition of his contribution to Italian craftsmanship. During the following decades, the company expanded with showrooms throughout Italy, while Frigerio’s works were exhibited in prestigious galleries and design events in Italy and internationally.
Today, his production is particularly appreciated for its combination of sculptural experimentation, exceptional craftsmanship and the use of rich materials, representing one of the most distinctive expressions of Italian collectible design of the second half of the twentieth century.
