Extremely rare T69 XL table in the 5-leg version, designed by Osvaldo Borsani in collaboration with Eugenio Gerli in the late 1950s for Tecno S.p.A.
The T69 table, in its standard A and B versions, was usually produced with 4 legs and a maximum diameter of 140 cm. To exceed this size, a patented 5-leg version was developed, which in this case features an original 150 cm smoked glass top.
Due to the disproportionate difference in production costs compared to the 4-leg version, and consequently the very high retail price at the time, this variant was produced in extremely small numbers and only for a very limited period.
The table is constructed with a solid painted aluminum base, enriched with brushed brass sheet panels. It features five legs supporting an original round smoked glass top, 14 mm thick, precisely machined with five recesses that allow for perfect positioning on the base.
The glass is in excellent condition, virtually flawless, with no scratches or chips. The base shows a few minor signs of age, as visible in the photographs, consistent with its nearly 70 years of history.
The central paintwork has been finely restored.
Overall, the table is in excellent vintage condition, restored, and remains an exceptionally rare collector’s piece for connoisseurs of one of the most important designers of the 20th century.
